Meet The Volunteers

A. V. Allen

Currently I am working part time as the CFO for a powder metal service company in Saint Marys, Pennsylvania after having served full time in that capacity for fifteen years. I am a graduate of Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania and attended the University of Pittsburgh for my MBA. I now live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with my wife Dea, who is an Administrator in Special Education for the Pittsburgh Public Schools. We have five children who live in Michigan, Connecticut, and Florida. My interests are reading, travel, gardening, and baseball, my lifelong preoccupation. I am currently doing volunteer work for flood relief in the Pittsburgh vicinity. In a former life I was a member of the U.S. Jaycees, Junior Achievement, Knights of Columbus, Economic Redevelopment Commission,  and coached baseball.

I just recently became interested in my family research, and I am grateful that my brother “kept the torch alive” for many years, as he was and is the keeper of the family records. However, I/we have learned more about our family in the last three years than we knew in the previous fifty. We still have some missing links, and it seems to be getting more and more difficult to find them. Our biggest enigma is precisely where our great grandparents lived in Ireland before they emigrated, which ship they came over on, and the port of embarkation.
