US Census Records, 1860 and 1870: Wilmington Delaware

The 1911 Census for all Ireland is expected to be on-line by the end of 2009

Many Irish immigrants to Wilmington found employment as riveters, ship joiners, boilermakers, and painters in Harland & Hollingsworth Co. factories. The company manufactured iron merchant ships, street cars, and railroad cars. Other Irish labored in the Pusey, Scott & Co. Morocco leather tanning mills. Still others built finely crafted carriages which found a ready market in the southern United States prior to the War Between the States.
